Kate Owen Gallery in Sydney will host Unfolding, an exhibition featuring new paintings by sisters Sarrita and Tarisse King. The exhibition opens on 12 November 2026 and continues until 13 December 2026 at 680 Darling Street.
Unfolding brings the artists back to the foundation of their creative practice, presenting a collection that reflects both continuity and evolution in their work. The exhibition explores how their artistic journeys have developed while remaining grounded in culture, Country, storytelling, and the influence of their late father, William King Jungala. Marking 19 years since his passing, Unfolding considers artistic foundations not as a return to the past, but as a starting point for future directions.
From 12 to 15 November, Sarrita and Tarisse King will be artists in residence at the gallery. This residency offers visitors the chance to engage with the artists as they work on site, providing insight into their creative process.
An artist talk is scheduled for 14 November 2026 at 10:00 am. This event will give attendees an opportunity to learn more about the themes and methods behind Unfolding, and to hear directly from the artists about their practice and influences.
The exhibition and associated events invite the public to connect with contemporary expressions of culture and identity. Kate Owen Gallery continues its commitment to supporting Indigenous artists, and Unfolding highlights the ongoing contributions of Sarrita and Tarisse King to Australian art.
