Christie’s Paris Art Week 2026 featured four auctions with a combined estimated value of over €100 million. These auctions took place on 22 and 23 October 2026 and included works from several landmark collections. The collections highlighted during the event were those of the Durand-Ruel family, Antonio Homem Sonnabend, Marlene and Spencer Hays, as well as the “Radiant Modernism” Collection.
The auction schedule began on 22 October at 2:30 p.m. with the sale titled "Durand-Ruel: Generations of Visions." This was followed at 3:30 p.m. by the "20th/21st Century: Paris Evening Sale," which included a segment called "Thinking Italian." On 23 October, the "Modern Art Sale" started at 10:00 a.m., featuring works from both the Durand-Ruel Collection and the Marlene and Spencer Hays Collection. The final auction, the "Contemporary Art Day Sale Paris," was held at 4:00 p.m. on the same day.
Among the notable works presented was "Bord des falaises à Pourville" by Claude Monet, estimated at €11–15 million. This painting had remained in the Durand-Ruel family for more than 140 years. Another significant piece was "Jeunes filles au bord de la mer" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, with an estimated value of €4–6 million. This painting has been lent to some of the world’s leading museums.
Public exhibitions related to the auctions were open from 16 to 22 October. These exhibitions were located in the immediate vicinity of the Art Basel fair at the Grand Palais, providing the public with an opportunity to view the artworks prior to the sales.
A press preview was held on 19 October at 4:00 p.m. Later that day, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., a preview took place during the MaSH (Matignon Saint-Honoré) association’s evening event. This allowed both the press and the public to view the auction highlights in advance.
The Antonio Homem Sonnabend Collection offered an exceptional group of major Post-War and Contemporary artworks. In addition to paintings, this collection also included photographs, prints, multiples, and design pieces, expanding the range of works available during the auctions.
The auctions during Paris Art Week 2026 presented a diverse selection of art, spanning different periods and styles. The inclusion of works from several renowned collections and the public exhibitions provided a comprehensive overview of the offerings at Christie’s during this major art event.
